Chris Byrne and Iliyana Nedkova, founders and co-directors of ARC Projects, bring to this new venture more than 30 years of art world experience between them. Early involvement as artists' agents in London and Sofia respectively was followed by careers in curating, commissioning, lecturing and writing for contemporary art institutions in Bulgaria, the UK and USA. They have worked with international artists including Martin Arnold, John Baldessari, Christine Borland, Claude Closky, Phil Collins, Dalziel and Scullion, Mona Hatoum, Isaac Julien, Dalibor Martinis, Bruce Nauman, Dan Perjovschi, Pipilotti Rist, Anri Sala, Nedko Solakov, Sam Taylor-Wood, Krassimir Terziev, Bill Viola and Gillian Wearing.

A native of Edinburgh, Chris has long practical experience in the field of contemporary arts as a curator, producer, artist, and educator. In addition to his role in ARC, currently Chris is also Lecturer in Contemporary Media Theory at the University of Dundee, Scotland. From 1999-2004, he was the founding Director of New Media Scotland, where he curated and organised numerous projects, exhibitions, performances, and residencies with artists across Scotland and internationally.

Iliyana is a Sofia-born curator, producer and critic of contemporary art and design. She is currently Curator of new Threshold artspace at the Perth Concert Hall, Scotland, and is completing her PhD in Curatorial Theory and Practice at Liverpool John Moores University. She also serves as Honorary Cultural Attaché at the Bulgarian Consulate in Scotland.
